AIChE & CHBE

What is Aiche & CHBE?
AIChE is the American Institute of Chemical Engineering (AIChE) Chapter for Rice University’s Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (ChBE) Program. ChBE applies biology, chemistry, physics, and computational programming to design and manufacture chemical goods. These include biopharmaceuticals, household products, nanoparticles, and petrochemicals.
Why CHBE?
“I chose CHBE because of how interdisciplinary it is and that it combines chemistry, physics, and math. I’m also passionate about the energy industry and providing sustainable energy to the world and I believe a CHBE degree from Rice develops that experience and skills necessary to be successful in the energy industry.” – Sam Nance, 2024-2025 Rice AIChE President
